Shredded Metal

What are Ferrous Metals?

Simply put, ferrous metals are metals mainly comprised of iron. As one of the most commonly recycled materials, ferrous metals are known for their strength and incredible durability

Steel, which is a ferrous metal, does not lose its physical properties during the recycling process and is fully recyclable. Because of this, steel that has been recycled can be repeatedly used for the same applications.

Ferrous metals are commonly used for both industrial and architectural constructions, such as skyscrapers and bridges. As a leading scrap metal recycler that services both the local community as well as larger companies, Richmond Steel Recycling purchases ferrous scrap metals — including a number of household appliances, air conditioning compressors, cast iron, and cables — in addition to more industrial scrap metals like heavy melt steel, metal roofing, and industrial metals.
